Summer Drink: Frosé

I was waiting for even the slightest hint of Spring to whip this recipe out, and thanks to my friends at 90Plus Cellars I already had this bottle of delicious rosé waiting for me. In my humble opinion, there’s no better combination than alcohol and something sweet – and this is both! Enter frosé, a frozen drink that will be the theme of your summer. These aren’t your mother’s slushies.  I made this after a day of walking around New York city and it was far more refreshing than I could have ever imagined. This recipe was debuted 2 years ago for my summer rooftop brunch, and it always brings back such fun memories. Let’s dive into it, shall we?

frose1

what you need:

  • Bottle of your favorite rosé (this one from 90 Plus Cellars is my fave)
  • 6 washed strawberries
  • 1 tbsp cane sugar syrup
  • 1 tsp rose extract

frose2

the how-to:

step one: fill an ice cube tray with rosé and stick it in the freezer until solid. Remember to save some of the actual rosé to make your frozen drink.

step two: now to make 2 drinks, put 8 rosé ice cubes, 1/2 cup rosé, strawberries, sugar syrup and rose extract in a blender and blend it all up.

step three: divide your frosé into 2 glasses and serve, preferably on a rooftop.

What I like most about this recipe is the hint of rose flavor. I’ve made frosé many times but this has to have been my best batch, simply because of the twist that I put on it.

So, this is so easy to make that you’ll have a hard time not making it on every occasion. I gotta ask this though; I’m in a constant debate with myself whether to say ‘slushy’ or ‘slushie’ – any ideas on which is actually correct?
